After preparing a breakfast of corn flakes and milk, fresh squeezed orange and lemon juice (with a little sugar!) big sister pauses to look up the day’s liturgical readings. Sticky notes are a must! She chooses two of the three readings listed on the calendar and marks them in the bible. During breakfast, she reads one or both readings aloud. Then mom reads them again, and we reflect, narrate and discuss ala Charlotte Mason method.

OK. So our perfect morning started at about 9:30 am. We slept in a bit. But the eastern filter of sun was still slipping in the dining room window as big sister reads the Psalms. Today one of my favorites: He knew you before you were even formed in the womb...

And now some yoga on the front lawn... The warrior pose is appealing to little brother, who *already* knows all about warrior poses. Yoga aligns our bodies, our spirits and our minds in a way that we can develop a whole love for our world. Sun salutations are a wonderful way to greet the morning sun and root our feet into the work our day brings.
Already a morning discovery! Cicadas are bursting out all over the Midwest. We are also observing the giant cicada-killing wasps that take down the cicada, appear to eats its brains out, and then lay an egg inside the poor bug-eyed beast. I love nature. But that is some weird stuff. On a side note, I remember being TERRIFIED of cicadas as a child. What a wonder that my own children so embrace their world that they think cicadas are cool and beautiful. _______________________________________________________________________________
