Step One: purchase a turkey one week after Thanksgiving at Aldi, hoping that it will be marked down but is still at the bargain price of 99cents per pound.
Step Two: leave the turkey out overnight naiively thinking that it will thaw just like that.
Step Three: put the turkey in the fridge 'cause it is still solid ice. Figure on cooking it tomorrow.
Step Four: poke turkey. still frozen.
Step Five: Give it another day to thaw, just to be on the safe side.
Step Six: Unpack that sucker 7 days later, rinse off the ice still in the middle, throw away the giblets and neck- which are still frozen, and gross anyway.
Step Seven: retrieve turkey roasting pan from neighbor across the street, who just happens to be mom. :) Thanks mom!
Step Eight: at 2:45 pm, Saturday, December 5th, place the foil wrapped turkey in the oven at 350degrees. Go blog about it, because.... well..... this is going to be interesting.
