Our parish of Sacred Heart is truly a beautiful church.

Avocado and cucumber maki is always a big hit.

We had a wonderful evening, starting off with a 5pm Mass at our parish. Afterward, none of us really wanted to go home, so we drove around the downtown area looking at the Christmas lights at the courthouse. Then we headed up the Main Street hill toward the college area.

A newer sushi joint caught my attention and the kids were all for it. The food was very fresh and delicious. Miso soup was a little salty, and with a headache the next day I am wondering if it had msg in it... But otherwise it was fantastic. I had a spicy tuna special maki with cucs, asparagus, and crab. Oh. My. Holy. Maki. It was good! I love it when each bite allows you to enjoy each and every taste in the roll, with a nice, warm, spicy afterglow!

We spent some time at the sushi place talking about art- Rembrandt and Picasso of all combinations! And then we drove down to historical High Street to see the famous oak tree and the beautiful houses. The lights of the city below the bluff were beautiful in the clear winter air. Then onto Moss Avenue, with more historical homes, beautiful Christmas lights, and a glimpse of the Frank Lloyd Wright house.

Big Sister is getting very interested in architecture and style. She recently researched Fallingwater, and got a Lego model of the home for Christmas. This is becoming a big and unexpected passion for her! I think some field trips are in order. God knows I will never turn down a chance to see some Prairie architecture, especially FLW of any age!
