One Summer Day

Big Sister had a busy day this summer afternoon.
Two small parts of the day were working with Kapla blocks and exploring the creek in our backyard.


Ahh... the sounds of summer! Bubbling waters, footsteps in wet sand, crickets and cicadas chirping, and the plunk of a stone in deep water...




I spent many hours in this same creek as a child. Richard Louv, of Last Child in the Woods, says that every child should *know* a wild place. The only way to know it is to spend time in it. Exploring, meditating, playing, digging, poking...
