Bellrose Island at Havana

Getting some academics out of the way at the park. We should all do school outdoors!

And Little Brother finds a toad.

Where we find more toads!

The nature path at Bellrose wraps around the 'island' along the river. The island is actually silted in and now a peninsula.

We flipped over a rotten log to see the cities of insects, centipedes, and potato bugs.

And another toad! We found nine altogether, along with a rabbit and a ground squirrel.

Near the end of the trail, an unexpected treat- a couple of rope swings hanging from an old black oak.

We walked back from Bellrose Island and had a picnic lunch at the Havana Riverfront Park where Lincoln made history.
