Big Sister has been interested in the story behind the Spirit of Columbia Steamboat disaster for several years. Over time, she has researched the events and the story has unfolded. This week, we went to the Pekin Riverfront Park, where the Spirit of Columbia would dock to take on passengers for a cruise to Alfesco Park just north of Peoria. Of course, the large car bridge was not here 100 years ago. But it made an interesting subject.
