How Our Liturgical Year is Going....

Remember what our liturgical calendar looked like a few months ago?

Today:

A few more prayers added, half the year colored in. With all the intensity of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, its nice to have some "Growing Time" for several months!

In the dining room, I keep a small shelf for religious paraphernalia. (I just enjoy using the word 'paraphernalia'.) For the month of July, a prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (on clipboard), a paper monstrance with a host made from a tortilla shell, always a statue of Our Lady, two Baby Jesus statues (one of which has been in my family for as long as I can remember), a flip book of saints for Little Flowers wreath II, a cool icon of St. Michael, and a sprig off of a tree at St. Joseph church where my family was brought into the church, including a blessed medal of St. Joseph on a ribbon. Did ya' get all that?
Yes, the decor can change from time to time.

A little cross printed on a piece of paper, taped to the door jamb of our basement... There because every couple of years, for a history project, we pretend to be Christians of the Roman age. The children follow little Christian symbols they find around the house, into the basement catacombs of ancient Rome. There they discover the tomb of Seberus the barrelmaker, and eventually the Good Shepherd, whereby a scripture is hidden. The kids get to read the scripture by candlelight, and either hide from or convert the Roman guards who are trying to catch them!
